Sentrilock: Lockbox Purchase & Take Ownership

Steps on how to purchase a SentriLock lockbox & take ownership of the lockbox

New lockboxes can be purchased from your local REALTOR® association or from the Realtracs Online Store for $160.00 each.

After purchasing a lockbox, it is necessary to "take ownership" of the lockbox using SentriKey.  This enables the owner to have permissions to both remove the lock's shackle and also assign the lockbox to a listing.

  1. On your phone, log in to the SentriKey application.  The SentriKey app is represented on your phone's home screen by the icon below.

  2. Once logged in, tap the three lines in the upper left of the SentriKey app.

  3. Tap on My Lockboxes.

  4. Tap on Take / Remove Ownership.

  5. Press the ENT button on the lockbox.

  6. After pressing the ENT button, the SentriKey app will complete the ownership registration by asking for your SentriKey PIN, through Touch ID, or through Face ID.

Troubleshooting Taking Ownership

If you've purchased a new lockbox but nothing happens when pressing the ENT button, please complete the troubleshooting steps below.

1.  Verify that bluetooth, location, and cellular data are enabled for your phone.

For iPhone:
To ensure that bluetooth is turned on when using an iPhone, open the Settings app.  And scroll down in Settings to find Bluetooth.  If Bluetooth is off here, turn on Bluetooth.

Next, scroll down within your iPhone's Settings app to find and tap on SentriKey RE.  Ensure that within the SentriKey RE settings Bluetooth is toggled on and green.  You'll also want to make sure that Cellular Data is toggled on and that Location While Using is enabled.

For Android: To ensure that bluetooth and location are turned on for your Android phone, swipe down from the top of the Android to reveal a quick menu. (A double swipe down may be required.)  If Bluetooth is off, tap the Bluetooth symbol to turn on.  Please also tap to turn on Location within the quick menu.  When turned on, the Bluetooth and Location symbols will be white with a blue background.

Next, on your Android, open the Settings app.  Within Settings, tap Apps. Within Apps, tap the SentriKey app. Then tap Permissions.  If your Android phone enables you to deny or allow permissions for the SentriKey app,  you'll find what is allowed and denied here in Permissions.  Where applicable, ensure that the permissions for Bluetooth, Location, and cellular data are set to Allow within the Permissions menu.

2.  Exit out of the SentriKey Application: If you've turned on the bluetooth and location settings referenced above but are still unable to open the lockbox, please completely quit the SentriKey application by performing the steps below.

For iPhone:  Swipe up and hold from the bottom of the iPhone screen until you see a card view where each app open displays as a card.  Release your hand from the screen.  After raising your hand, you should still see the app cards.   Swipe the SentriKey app up completely off of the screen in order to quit the SentriKey app.

a.  For Android:  Tap the three lines (Overview) button in the lower left or lower right hand corner of your screen.

After tapping Overview, you'll see your recently opened apps. Swipe the SentriKey app up off of the screen to quit the app.

3.  Try Again: After exiting the iPhone or Android SentriKey app, re-open the SentriKey app.  And once more, attempt the take ownership steps found in this guide.

4. Contact SentriLock Support: If pressing ENT still does nothing after re-launching the app and following the recommended steps to open and take ownership, please contact SentriLock support by dialing 513-618-5800.  SentriLock's support staff will be able to troubleshoot the issue further and resolve the problem.
